La Luth de la Lune is an exploratory collection of miniatures. It came about one afternoon two years ago. I was sitting on the sofa, idly plucking a moon lute (a very ordinary one) that I bought during a trip to Quanzhou, just because I wanted to hold it. I can't play any ethnic musical instruments, and I never intended to learn. But what does it matter? An instrument makes its own sound because of a person, and that sound is heard by someone. Maybe that's all that needs to happen.

That connection is extremely simple and interesting. Its sound is like a straight line, firm enough, and there's nothing more to it. Like a friend who doesn't talk much, every word he suddenly says makes me think for a long time. As evening approached, I thought maybe I could let it "talk" to the cello.

It turned out to be not easy. So I put it aside for a while, did other things, and went on with my life. Finally, I finished it this year. Maybe it's different from my previous works, and it won't continue in the future because it only belongs to a certain stage. It's light and slow, but it can still be preserved.
