This improvisational trio, explores the endless sonic exploration of garage noise rock, improvisation, and psychedelia. Thriving on the principles of spontaneity. A rich auditory landscape where this improv rock energy intertwines with the expansive realms of repetition and the power trio psychedelic rock formation.
Kawaguchi Masami 川口雅巳 is a revered figure in Tokyo’s underground scene, known for his searing, improvised guitar work that blends raw garage noise rock with unrestrained emotional intensity. He is involved in numerous groups and collectives, including Miminokoto, LSD March, LSD Pond, Keiji Haino & The Hardy Rocks. As well as his longstanding and current group Kawaguchi Masami’s New Rock Syndicate.
His intricate steam-of-consciousness guitar work and signature free-form approach to composition form the backbone of this album. Exploratory, and deeply expressive. His sound moves freely between brooding, meditative passages and surging waves of distortion, creating a visceral listening experience. Often described as the cry of a wandering soul navigating a wall of sound, Kawaguchi’s music invites listeners into a profound sensory landscape.
Brought to form and guided by Mike on bass and Sned on drums. Mike glides through each track underneath all the unrestrained telecaster high-gain sonics. Bringing form to the brilliant dissonance and raw form of Masami playing. Mike’s mix takes direct inspiration from the guitar tone alone. Resulting in a stripped-to-bare-bones production, in an attempt to capture the real. While all being held together by Sned’s rock-steady tempos.
Mike Vest & Dave Sneddon continue their journey of collaborations, having spent the past years working with underground legends, Mitsuru Tabata (Modoki), Junzo Suzuki (Mienakunaru), Tomoyuki Aoki (Tomoyuki Trio), Dave Cochrane & Gordon Watson (Hollow Eyes). Mike is part of Drunk In Hell, Bong, Blown Out, Melting Hand, 11Paranoias, and Kaliyuga Express only to name a few and Dave, founder of Flat Earth Records & owner of Amorphous Pieces publishing pieces like “From The Garage To The Station And Beyond” (Stories From The Gateshead Music Collection 1980-88), Nick Blinko (Rudimentary Peni) Art collections & The “Raising Hell” Zine Omnibus 1982-1990.
